In Hungary, each Bank Branch has been allotted a 8 digits unique code. This 8 digits code is called Bank & Branch Office Code or routing number or sort code. First 3 digits from left of the routing number depicts the Bank Code. Characters 4-7 from left of the routing number, 4 digits are Payment Institution Specific and are called branch code and 8th Character is Control number generated by a rule. The 8 digits number is called routing number and is allotted to each Bank Branch. This 8 digit no. is also called sort code.
